Four Organizations Strengthening Democracy

In a time when democracy faces numerous challenges, several organizations are working tirelessly to protect and uphold democratic values.

Here are a few of my favorite organizations that are making significant contributions to safeguarding democratic participation in the United States and in California specifically.

1. Fair Fight, founded by Stacey Abrams, combats voter suppression and promotes fair elections by advocating for voting rights and electoral reform. Visit Fair Fight's website here.
   

2. California Common Cause is the state chapter of the national organization and focuses specifically on protecting democracy in California. They advocate for campaign finance reform, open government, and fair redistricting, empowering Californians to participate in shaping their state's political landscape. Public Access Democracy is a California-based organization dedicated to build citizens' political power through deep democratic practices such as random selection (sortition) and deliberation, which function like juries and remove moneyed interests from decision-making.
